Worldwide there are more than 150 radio stations transmitting decoded weather forecasts for mariners in MORSE, RTTY and SITOR. On top of that there are more than 100 Navtex stations broadcasting weather forecasts and navigational warnings along the coast lines. The MRD Marine Radio Decoders are capable of decoding weather forecasts as well as Navtex messages and display or print them.
With the Navtex receivers NAV10 and NAV30 there is an affordable way of monitoring safety, weather and navigational messages unattended nearly everywhere in the world. The Marine Radio Decoder can be programmed like a videorecorder. The broadcast is then received at a fixed time on a specified frequency, automatically decoded and stored or printed. Stored messages can be displayed or printed partial or completely at any time.
Most of the radio stations are broadcasting their messages on more than one frequency. With the Marine Radio Decoder you can form groups. The MRD automatically scans the best signal within this group of frequencies. The top model features a marine receiver for the complete spectrum of 100 kHz to 30 MHz which makes the reception of ordinary radio broadcasts (i.e. BBC) possible.
The Marine Radio Decoder may be used to log navigational data received via the NMEA 0183 interface. The user can define intervals where position, instrument data, date and time are stored. After 50 intervals the stored data will be printed automatically. As an option each Marine Radio Decoder may be equipped with a barometer. With this module the MRD is capable of recording the barometric pressure for 24 or 96 hours. An alarm for fast changes in pressure may be activated.
With its unique sleep timer the skipper always has the latest forecasts if he returns to his boat after several days. Simply set the number of days until your return and your decoder will switch itself to standby and provide you with the latest forecast when back on board. When it is asleep your Marine Radio Decoder drains less than 5 mA from the batteries.
The software of your Marine Radio Decoder will never be out of date: Without opening the unit one can flash the latest update within a few minutes. This is the basis for a long relation without any problems and keeps your decoder open for future purposes like weather facsimile!
